Central Middle School Academics
Central Middle School held it's annual Spelling Bee on January 19, 2010.
This year's champion was Zachary
Ward. He is in the 7th grade and is the son of Wayne and Carmen Ward.
Zachary will advance on to the News Sentinel Southern Appalachia Regional
Spelling Bee, which will take place on February 27th at the University of TN.
The
participants were: T.Howard, W.
Billingham, S. LaRue, S.Swint, S.Oplinger, G.Sims, W.Bryant,
N.Stewart, E.Byrge, J.Moore, E.Mitchell, B. Vespie and Z. Ward.
The Renaissance Program
The Renaissance Program is an incentive program to award those students who have achieved high academic standards. Students will be awarded a blue card for all A's; a white card for all A's and no more than two B's; or a red card for a B average with NO C's, D's, or F's. These grades are not limited to core subjects; they also pertain to technology, library, physical education, music, etc., or any other supplementary course. These cards will be based on the previous semester's grades. The students can then use these cards for discounts at area stores, free admission to school events and many other nice benefits. The cards are awarded at the beginning of each semester.

Each month every teacher at CMS selects a student of the month. The selection is based on their behavior and work they have done in that classroom.
